Vehicle takes out tree, hits pole then house

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 10:45 PM on Monday, October 23, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4, Stations 1 & 2 (Fountain Springs and Lavelle) along with Ashland EMS, Shenandoah ALS and Ashland Rescue to 400 Peter Street in Butler Township for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Responding units were advised of a vehicle into a house with injuries.  Fire and EMS arrived to find a single vehicle accident.  The vehicle appeared to have traveled off the roadway, took out multiple trees, hit a metal clothesline pole and then collided with the house.  Two people were transported to … Continue reading

Car catches fire on I81

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 21, Luzerne County dispatched Dorrance Twp. Fire and Dorrance EMS to Interstate 81 at MM156 for a reported vehicle fire.  Additional was provided that smoke was coming from a passenger car.   Hazle Twp. Assistance Chief 141-4 (Zoshak) come up on radio and stated he came upon the vehicle fire and was now reporting a fully involved vehicle off the roadway and all occupants were accounted for.  Dorrance Twp. Fire arrived on the scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

Tractor trailer t-bones pickup

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 7:30 PM on Tuesday, October 16, APTS Medic 11D was responding to an EMS call when it came upon a motor vehicle accident at State Route 924 and Interstate 81 in Hazle Township.  Medic 11D was reporting a tractor trailer had broad-sided a pickup truck in the intersection.  Hazle Twp. Fire, who was already operating at a large structure fire less than a mile away, was dispatched on the assist. Orwigsburg celebrates 125 years

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, October 13, the Friendship Hose Company #1 of Orwigsburg celebrated 125 years of service to the community.  The festivities were kicked off with an apparatus parade through the borough.  Residents came out to wave to firefighters and check out the units from throughout Schuylkill County.  After the parade, visiting firefighters and residents came to the firehouse and enjoyed food and refreshments along with music provided by a disc jockey.  A small ceremony was emceed by Jesse Zimmerman, 1st Assistant Chief.  Zimmerman thanked everyone in attendance as well as the residents and government leaders for … Continue reading

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, September 29, Fire & Film traveled to Norristown for the 133rd annual Firemen’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention.  The parade featured hundreds of fire apparatus, marching units, bands and civic groups. Ashland hits second alarm for three dwellings

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 10:45 AM on Friday, September 14, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched District 38 (Ashland Fire) to 1222 Spruce Street in Ashland for a reported house fire.  Ashland police were advised of the possible fire and Unit 41 arrived on the scene in seconds confirming a working fire.  PD stated flames and smoke were showing from the residence. Ashland Asst. SUV takes out multiple poles outside Ashland

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 5:33 PM on Thursday September 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4 (Butler Twp.), Ashland Rescue 38, Ashland EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 399 Peter Street in Butler Township for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Interstate rollover for Hazle Twp. and Medic 11

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 8:57 AM on Sunday, September 9, Hazle Township Fire & Rescue was dispatched with APTS Medic 11 to Interstate 81 in the area of mile marker 143 southbound for a reported vehicle accident with possible entrapment and fire.  Medic 11B went responding and was advised of a 15-passenger van rolled over with unknown occupants trapped and the vehicle smoking.  141 Chief (Kostician) went responding and was told multiple calls were being received placing the incident somewhere in a three mile stretch.  On his way to the station, the chief found the accident to be at the 143 … Continue reading

One killed, one seriously hurt in Hazle Twp. accident

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 2:30 PM on Friday, August 31, Hazle Township Fire and Rescue was dispatched with APTS Medic 11 to Route 924 in the area of Interstate 81 for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Rescue 101 went responding and was advised of at least one trapped and unresponsive.  Multiple calls were being received and some stated one patient was possibly deceased.  Two Medic 11 units were on the way and requested aeromedical be placed on standby for the injured. Shenandoah goes to work on house fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 1:00 AM on Friday, July 6, the Shenandoah Fire Department was dispatched to the area of West Penn and North Chestnut Streets for the report of a possible house fire.  Frackville Ladder 43-20, Mahanoy City West End Rescue 993 and Nuremberg Ladder 581 were also on the first alarm with Shenandoah EMS.
