SUV takes out multiple poles outside Ashland

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 5:33 PM on Thursday September 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4 (Butler Twp.), Ashland Rescue 38, Ashland EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 399 Peter Street in Butler Township for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

First units went responding and were advised that multiple calls were being received for the incident placing it right in the middle of the village of Fountain Springs and that a Jeep took out multiple utility poles and lines were down on the roadway. Additional reports were given that the male was injured but possibly trying to drive the vehicle.

Fire personnel arrived on scene to find the Jeep had severe damage with a pole laying on the entire vehicle. The driver had self-extricated from the vehicle. Hazards were controlled by the firefighters. EMS evaluated the patient who was then tended to by the local police department.  Crews remained on scene waiting for the utility company well into the night.
