Hazleton battles stubborn apartment building fire

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 11:15 on Sunday, December 2 Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched the Hazleton City Fire Department and APTS Medic 11 to the unit block of North Cedar Street for a reported residential structure fire. Chief 2 (Jones) went responding and was advised the center was receiving multiple calls for an apartment building fire with children possibly trapped at 53 North Cedar Street. Ladder 1 arrived and took the front of the building to find heavy smoke showing from a three story multi-family dwelling. Wilkes-Barre fire goes “All Hands”

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 6:00 AM Wilkes-Barre City fire was dispatched to 216 Dana Street in the city for the reported structure fire.  Responding units were advised that the 9-1-1 had already received over twenty calls reporting a working fire upon dispatch.  The first arriving chief reported heavy smoke showing from a block away and immediately requested additional alarms as the fire had already spread to a neighboring exposure. Hazleton makes quick work of apartment fire

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 11:25 AM on Tuesday, December 13, Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched Hazleton City Fire and Medic 11 to 359 West Broad Street in the City for a reported structure fire. Chief 2 and Ladder 1 immediately responded along with Engines 2 and 4.  While responding, units were updated that police officers were on scene confirming a working fire.  Chief 2 arrived on scene with smoke showing from a three story end-of-row building containing businesses on the first floor and apartments on the others.  The chief established Hazleton Fire Command.  Reports of possible entrapment were soon presented.  … Continue reading
