Girardville loses block in 4-Alarm fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – In the evening hours of February 23, Girardville firefighters were dipatched to Main Street for a report of a structure fire.  Crews arrived to find a basement fire with light smoke from the rear of the row.  The fire rapidly grew out of control and multiple alarms were requested.  A team of firefighters were trapped in a third floor room when a piece of furniture fell over and blocked their exit and they began to run low on air. One firefighter was grabbed from a window while the other two were escorted out by the RIT team.

Our friend, John Garber, was on scene taking video when he captured the rescue.  It begins after the 4 minute mark.

Our friends Tony Flaim and Jason Wagner were able to capture a few photos
