The second fire was located at 4730 South Cypress Drive, just 0.8 miles from the first fire. The first arriving units found a 100 ft. x 200 ft. barn with a large amount of fire showing. The barn was on the property of Lorah’s Pig Farm but luckily only contained hay and some equipment.

Northampton Truck 4221 set up at the A/D corner, Slatington Truck 2431 set up at the A/B corner and Walnutport Truck 2931 set up at the B/C corner to begin master stream operations.

With no hydrants in the area, water supply was initially an issue. A tanker task force was requested, and brought in multiple tankers from Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Two fill sites were established to fill the tankers.

Allen Township Engine 4512 set up a drafting operation to feed the ladder pipes while engines from Lehigh Township and Walnutport did the same.

As the fire was being contained heavy machinery was brought in to tear apart the barn and hay that was on fire.

Firefighters remained on scene throughout much of the afternoon dousing hot spots and picking up equipment.
