Kutztown extinguishes bulldozer fire

BERKS COUNTY, PA – Around 10:00 AM on Friday, April 27, Berks 9-1-1 dispatched Company 46 (Kutztown) to Route 222 Northbound between South Kemp Road and Hilltop Road for a reported vehicle fire.  Initial responding officers were advised of a piece of equipment on fire in a field next to the highway.

Chief 46 and Deputy 46 arrived on the scene to find a working bulldozer fire in a field placed a few hundred yards off the roadway.  The bulldozer was moving old stumps into a burn pile when it caught on fire.  The chief requested Brush 46 be the first responding piece.

The engine and brush responded and gained access through a driveway.  The engine arrived and stretched a 1.75″ line and began to knock the fire.  The brush arrived and assisted the engine crew with extinguishing the fire and performing overhaul.  All units were clear of the scene within the hour.
