Minersville house rocked by fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Shortly before 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 29 the Minersville Fire Department was dispatched to 524 Pine Hill Street in their borough for a reported house fire.

Chief 510 went responding and was advised of multiple calls reporting a working house fire.  The Chief quickly upgraded the call to a working fire and requested a Rapid Intervention Team from Pottsville.  Stations 50 & 60 were added to the alarm.

Units arrived on scene to find fire and smoke showing from home.  Multiple lines were stretched to work on knocking down the fire.  Ladder 519 took the address followed by Engine 528.  Engine 534 took the corner of Pine Hill and Spring Streets and secured a water supply.  Engine 62 took the rear of the address along with Engine 521.

As crews continued to battle the fire additional firefighters were needed.  A second Rapid Intervention Team was requested from Schuylkill Haven and Pottsville crews were sent to work.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within an hour and the fire was placed under control by 4:30 PM.  A State Police Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to assist with the investigation.  One firefighter suffered minor injuries on the scene.
