Hazleton City finds camper fire with exposures

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Just after 8:00 AM on Friday, July 20, the Hazleton City Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Laurel and Noble Street in the City for a reported vehicle fire.  A neighboring department unit was on the air shortly before dispatch reporting a large column of smoke in the same area.

Fire responding units were advised of a camper on fire in close proximity to two buildings.  A portable arrived on scene and confirmed a fully involved camper fire with extension to both buildings.

City Engine 2 arrived on scene and stretched multiple lines to begin to knock the fire.  With a quick knockdown, it was determined the extension to the buildings was very minor and limited to melted siding.

Crews mopped up the scene and were placed available in under an hour.  The cause of the fire in under investigation.
