Bathroom fire quickly doused in the patch

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – After 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the West Mahanoy Township Fire Department (William Penn, Shenandoah Heights and Altamont) as well as Squrt 745 from Shenandoah to 529 Mount Olive Boulevard in the Lost Creek section of the township for a dwelling fire.

Altamont Engine 367 was the first unit responding and was advised of a fire in the bathroom.  William Penn Engine 888 and Chief 889 arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke in the area and confirmed a working fire.

Crews stretched into the two story residence and searched for the fire.  The fire was located in the bathroom and quickly contained.  Squrt 745 arrived and set up at the A/D corner and flew the stick to the roof.  Crews staged on the roof for possible vertical ventilation.

The smoke was cleared out using positive pressure ventilation which had the smoke gone within fifteen minutes.  EMS assessed the homeowner who refused any further treatment or transport.  All units were clear of the scene within an hour.
