Columbia frees one from van in Shenandoah

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 3:30PM on Sunday, December 4, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Shenandoah Fire and EMS to the area of Redner’s Market on the Gold Star Highway for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Medic 6404 responded and was advised of a multiple vehicle accident with injuries.  There was no additional information on injuries and everyone was reported to be out of the vehicles.  Engine 751 and Squirt 745 responded as well.  Shenandoah Police were also advised that callers were reporting one of the involved parties fled the scene through the parking lot of the shopping center.

EMS arrived on scene to find one patient in the passenger seat of a van who was unable to exit the vehicle.  Columbia Engine 742 was requested into the scene for their hydraulic rescue tools.

 

Rescue personnel arrived and stabilized the vehicle.  Once stable, the passenger door was removed from the vehicle.  EMS crews then worked to remove the patient and load them into the ambulance.

The patient was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. All other parties involved refused medical treatment. Fire crews cleared the scene within thirty minutes.
