Tractor trailer lands on its side

LEHIGH COUNTY, PA – A tractor trailer carrying cases of water flipped onto its side in Upper Macungie Township around 6:30 AM on Thursday, July 21.  Chief 5601 came upon the accident on Nestle Way and notified Lehigh County 9-1-1 that he would need Fire and EMS services on the scene.  Station 8 (Fogelsville), 56 (Upper Macungie) and 62 (Cetronia EMS) were dispatched for the MVA with rollover.

Chief 5601 established Nestle Command and requested the first unit arriving on scene to initiate spill control.  Command stated he had a moderate oil spill approximately twenty feet from a storm drain and had water from the trailer running into the drain.  Engine 811 arrived on scene and completed the task.

 

Due to being rush hour, fire police were requested from Stations 8, 56 and 25 (Trexlertown).  Fire police assisted with directing traffic around the accident.

Fire crews remained on scene for approximately and hour until towing wreckers arrived.  A portion of the road remained closed until 11:30 AM.  There was no word on the severity of injuries.
