2 bells for West Hazleton job

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – At 6:47 PM on Sunday, July 26, West Hazleton Fire 183 and LVHN Medic 11 were dispatched to 117 East Broad Street in West Hazleton for a house fire.

As the tones were dropping, PD arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire.

Chief 4 assumed command with 183 Engine 2 arriving to find heavy smoke showing. Chief communicated an exposure issue on the Bravo side.

A line was stretched off the bumper of Engine 2 onto the Bravo side where it appeared the fire was on a porch or other type of extension.

A second alarm was struck with a request for L&L rehab out of Carbon County. The second alarm included Hazleton City 139, Hazle Twp. 141, Sugarloaf 177, Valley Regional 116 and McAdoo Engine 49-15 from Schuylkill County.

A second line was stretched to the second floor via a ladder while crews made their way to the attic and opened up.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within 15 minutes.

A State Police Fire Marshall was called to the scene to investigate the cause.
