Hazle kitchen fire knocked in minutes

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – Just after 9:15 PM on Sunday, December 22, Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched Hazle Twp. Fire, Harwood Fire and Medic 37 to 4187 Hollywood Boulevard in Hazle Township for a residential structure fire with entrapment.

141 Chief 2 was advised of a report of a fire in half a double with possibly 3 people still inside. Chief 2 requested a set of 5 tankers be dispatched to the scene. Greater Hazleton BLS was also added with the report of entrapment.

Chief 2 arrived on-scene and reported heavy smoke showing from the first floor with all occupants out. 141 Engine 2 was to pull past the residence leaving room for the truck company and stretch a line.

The engine arrived on-scene and followed through with their assignment. Within minutes of their arrival, the engine crew had the fire knocked down and overhaul in progress.

With the quick progress, Command scaled back the incident to Engine 2, Tower 7, Tanker 6 and Valley Regional Tanker. All other units were put back in service.

After a brief period of overhaul, crews packed their rigs back up and returned to service by 9:55 PM.

This duplex has a history with the fire department as this is the third fire at the location. The most recent fire was in June of this year and severely damaged the other side. You can find photos from that fire here.
