Pottsville Fire Companies house two new pieces with parade and ceremony

The Pottsville Fire Department welcomed two new pieces of apparatus Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix Fire Company and Humane Fire Company held a joint housing to welcome the new Ladder 68-21, a 2014 Pierce Arrow, and Engine 68-13, a 2017 Pierce Enforcer.

The festivities kicked off at 1 PM with a fire apparatus parade throughout the City followed by a ceremony at the Humane Fire Company where members welcomed the apparatus.

Government officials spoke kind words of the fire companies and fire companies thanked the officials for their support. The rigs were blessed by Monsignor Glosser and champagne was smashed over the bumpers to christen the units.

The ceremony was concluded with members pushing each of the apparatus into the garage and they were officially housed. Those in attendance then went inside the firehouse for food and refreshments.
