LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – On Tuesday, October 30, around 4:30 PM, Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched Hazleton City Fire and APTS Medic 11 to the area of 300 West Broad Street in Hazleton for a report of a building on fire.
Initial reports were smoke and flames from the third floor of the former American Legion building.
Chief 3 arrived on scene and confirmed he had smoke showing from the abandoned building and requested a working fire tone.
Crews made entry and ascended to the third floor where they found a small fire that appeared to be intentionally set.
Firefighters had the incident under control in roughly 10 minutes and remained on scene to investigate.
