Car carrier hauling Jeeps rolls over in Nesquehoning

CARBON COUNTY, PA – Just after 8:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, Carbon County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire Districts 13 (Nesquehoning) and 11 (Jim Thorpe) to the intersection of State Routes 93 and 209 at the bottom of the Broad Mountain in Nesquehoning for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment.  Nesquehoning EMS and Lehighton ALS were also due.

Responding units were advised of a tractor trailer that couldn’t stop at the bottom of the mountain struck another vehicle and both rolled over.  Chief 1304 and Engine 1310 arrived on scene to find a car carrier rolled onto its side with brand new Jeep vehicles thrown off the carrier.

A passing by contractor stopped at the scene and threw a ladder to the top of the truck prior to the fire department’s arrival which allowed both occupant of the tractor to exit the vehicle.  Neither were injured.  Chief 1304 scaled the incident back to his district, EMS and fire police.

Crews remained on scene well into the morning as the scene was cleaned up.
