Girardville home catches fire during Butler blaze

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 4:45 AM while crews were battling a two alarm blaze in neighboring Butler Township, Fire District 45 (Girardville Fire) was dispatched to East Ogden Street in the area of the Rangers firehouse for a reported dwelling fire.

Chief 45 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire.  Flames were showing from the rear of a single family dwelling and rapidly spreading up the side of the house.  Rangers Engine 45-10 took placement on Line Street while Girard Hose Engine 45-11 positioned in a parking lot next to the structure.

Two lines were stretched and began to knock down the fire.  Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within 10 minutes and began to perform overhaul.  The fire was placed under control within 25 minutes and crews were clear in just under two hours.
