Tree lands on passing car on Nuremberg Mountain

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Just before midnight on August 5, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 19 (Nuremberg-Weston) to Mountain Road and Millers Road in North Union Township for a tree down on top of a car.

Fire units arrived on scene to find multiple large trees down on the roadway and suspended on utility wires.  Underneath the trees were a passenger car that was traveling toward Nuremberg when the trees came down.

The driver of the car was able to escape without injury but the car suffered moderate damage.

PPL Electric was dispatched the scene as the village of Nuremberg and surrounding areas were left without power due to the incident.  Firefighters shut down the roadway until the service crews arrived at the scene.

The Pennsylvania State Police were also at the incident.
