Mutual aid training at County fire academy

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Firefighters from the Citizens Fire Company of Mahanoy City and the Goodwill Fire Company of Frackville met at the Schuylkill County Fire Training Academy on Thursday, September 20 to have a joint training. Members went over all of the apparatus and got some time setting up and flying the aerials. Rookie members were put through a maze to familiarize themselves with zero-visibility conditions. Girardville shed ignites house on B Street

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 12:15 AM on Saturday, September 15, the Girardville Fire Department along with Girardville EMS was dispatched to the area of 200 Pine Street in Girardville for a reported shed on fire.   Girard Hose Engine 45-11 went responding with Chief 45-01 (Shearn) and was advised multiple calls were being received for a shed well off. Ashland hits second alarm for three dwellings

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 10:45 AM on Friday, September 14, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched District 38 (Ashland Fire) to 1222 Spruce Street in Ashland for a reported house fire.  Ashland police were advised of the possible fire and Unit 41 arrived on the scene in seconds confirming a working fire.  PD stated flames and smoke were showing from the residence. SUV takes out multiple poles outside Ashland

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 5:33 PM on Thursday September 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4 (Butler Twp.), Ashland Rescue 38, Ashland EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 399 Peter Street in Butler Township for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. First units went responding and were advised that multiple calls were being received for the incident placing it right in the middle of the village of Fountain Springs and that a Jeep took out multiple utility poles and lines were down on the roadway. Schuylkill Historical Fire Society holds annual muster

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – The Schuylkill Historical Fire Society held its annual muster at the Schuylkill County Fire Academy on Sunday, September 9.  Participating apparatus started off the day with a parade from the Schuylkill Mall through Frackville and onto the training grounds.  The parade entered the Academy by passing under an arch made by retired ladders from Tamaqua and Shenandoah. Interstate rollover for Hazle Twp. and Medic 11

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 8:57 AM on Sunday, September 9, Hazle Township Fire & Rescue was dispatched with APTS Medic 11 to Interstate 81 in the area of mile marker 143 southbound for a reported vehicle accident with possible entrapment and fire.  Medic 11B went responding and was advised of a 15-passenger van rolled over with unknown occupants trapped and the vehicle smoking.  141 Chief (Kostician) went responding and was told multiple calls were being received placing the incident somewhere in a three mile stretch.  On his way to the station, the chief found the accident to be at the 143 … Continue reading

Frackville bagel shop burns

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – A few minutes before 8:00 PM on Friday, September 7, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 advised PD Unit 71 (Frackville) that a report was received of a possible business building fire in the area of the bagel shop at Oak Street and Lehigh Avenue. The fire department was dispatched moments later. The first alarm assignment included Frackville Fire, Altamont Fire, Englewood Fire, Tower 456 (Citizens of Mahanoy City) and Frackville Ambulance.   Unit 71 was advised that multiple calls were being received. 71 then called on scene and reported a working fire. Shamokin fire escalates to 3+ alarms

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA – Minutes after 10:00 PM on Wednesday, September 5, Northumberland County 9-1-1 dispatched the Shamokin Fire Bureau to the area of Shamokin and Sunbury Streets for a possible dwelling fire.  The incident was upgraded to a working fire in seconds and upgraded to the second alarm after a few minutes.  The fire grew to three alarms plus special calls into the scene and crews operated well into the morning.  Check back with Fire & Film this afternoon for additional information and video!
